Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

I drew all those sketches today. Yes. All of them. But I am lazy and don't like to scan things. See how this works? It'll get done eventually. =/

Note to self:

Wet-stretching a piece of watercolor paper doesn't work very well when it's 110 (no joke) degrees outside.

Luckily it didn't warp bad enough to make me think I need to re-start it, but I'll be sure to plan my stretching schedule around cooler hours of the day from this point on.

So much work to do be done... but my computer doesn't function more than simple text programs in this heat. I want to scan but I can't because if it weren't for the computer overheating, I bet the scanner would. Meh. I wish I had air conditioning. But I'm moving to a building that doesn't have every window facing the morning sun sometime next month. Hoorah! Still, I'd like to kick the nuts of whoever designed this apartment.

In other news... still trying to decide if it's feasible to make it out to Burning Man this year. The convention I originally (accidentally) planned for that same week got canceled-- so my schedule is wide open for it. But my car would not make it, for one. And for two, and I lack camping equipment beyond personal necessities simply because I do not have space to store a tent and such in this tiny apartment-- so it'd be the option of me finding someone to ride with and camp with. Heh, when I went camping last year I just slept in the open air, but something about middle of the desert makes me think this isn't the best ide. We'll see. It might happen, it might not. I gotta make a decision pretty soon so I can make sure to get time off, though.

Overhearing neighbours having sex is a rather awkward thing... especially at six at a Saturday morning. *sighs* Am at my parents' again, doing school stuff and stressing myself out about AC art. >_< Also there is so much more I should actually be doing and then somehow MMC left me behind with a messed up sleeping schedule... *sighs again*

Making arrangements to meet someone at a cafe to drop off books and stuff. "Oh no!" I thought, after confirming the time, "how will we recognize each other?"

*pause*

Yeah, probably not much of a concern. Remind me not to ever commit any crimes that will involve me getting dragged into a police line-up...

Made a few small changes/fixes to my icon sketch for [info]maui in OC, which I also want to get now ... FEEDBACK/CRITS WELCOME!

Hopefully this is a little bit better...? )

I never promised you a rose garden.

  • May. 17th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
But I'll share mine with you anyway. :)

Ole's Glamor Shot

This is Ole (as in Sven and Ole or Lena and Ole): a winter hardy rose specially engineered for Minnesota winters at the University of Minnesota. Neat, huh? Awfully pretty, too.

Oles in the Garden

Oles in situ- you can see both my bike and the steps that lead down to my door. I have mentioned that I live underground, right?

Centenial in the garden

Centenial(pastel yellow/bronze) in the garden. You can see JFK (creamy white) and Tropicana (pinky orange) in the background, but neither of those has seen fit to bloom yet. Ungrateful things. In the Victorian language of flowers my garden now says that it is Fascinated (Orange), full of Grace and Joy (Pale Pink), Innocent and Secretive (White), and Jealous and Trying to Care (Yellow). That is to say, if everything lives.

I've also got asiatic lilies (pink, white, and purple) and gladiolus (random multi colors) going from bulbs, heart breakingly orange oriental poppies, strawberries in a big clay pot, and a blanket full of butterfly attracting wildflower seeds that haven't sprouted yet.

If seeds in the black earth can turn into such beautiful
roses, what might not the heart of man become in its
long journey toward the stars?

Crash Twinsanity

  • May. 17th, 2008 at 5:42 PM
Wow I finally bought "Crash Twinsanity"!!!
It's fantastic game, I like how Vivendi Universal Games worked on Crash and Cortex's expressions; This game reminds to me my first videogame for Playstation: "Crash Bandiccot 2 - Cortex strikes back". ;D =)

There's a little lack of continuity in the story, probably because you spend a lot of time between all the various chapters (and probably because the italian dubbing is not perfect) :P ;)

They put one the cover "+3".
What the ... how could a 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 years old child play that game???
It's hard even for me! XD ahahahah Maybe because it's too flexible.

Anyway I spent these last two days playing without stops (except for sleeping and eating) and probably I reached the first half of the whole game! :P XD

BRB Anorexia

  • May. 17th, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Hi everybody,

I have an 05 female BRB. I don't know much about breeding BRBs, cause I mostly do BPs, corns, and RTBs, but.. I had a question.

When she was much younger this snake got really ill, almost died, but even though that ordeal, she ate. She's much larger now and much older, and she isn't eating. She was getting one medium rat every other week, and now she hasn't eaten in about 2 months.

Is it BRB breeding season? Do females go off of food generally? i have no males so she's not gravid..but, just a little concerned. Everything seems normal with her otherwise.

Nothing has changed in her environment/temperature, either.

Thanks,

DM

i came home to my parent's place this summer so i could get away from the city, be reflective, to see trees and be outside, and spend time with the people who mean the most to me. instead i find myself devoting the majority of my day to this computer, and shutting all that out.

i'm gunna stay online for one more week to clean things up, send refunds, and walk away as quietly as possible. i didn't plan on writing any entry like this, because i don't want to draw attention to myself, but i feel like i've let a lot of people down so i had to say something. i'm not leaving "forever" but i couldn't give any estimate of when i'll be back... maybe i'll try and bring back that school blog starting in the fall. all i know is i'd rather be Justine now than Kesame.

yes, i deleted my galleries. i know this is tacky but since all those pieces were commissions, i don't feel all that bad about it. the people who paid for them received them. i know other people enjoyed my artwork besides my buyers, and i simply have to ask them to wait. there will be more.

yea this is really lame and i'm really sorry. i dont love what i'm doing anymore, i dont like feeling like a sell-out artist, and i don't like sacrificing time i could be spending with my friends and family in order to maintain this online life. i feel trapped and i know there's a better, less dramarama way to do this, but i just don't care to. i dont care if this ruins my reputation or pisses people off, i put way to much effort into this thing and i'm just spent. i dont know how anyone does it. i can honestly see that if i stay in this weird fictional world any longer i'll turn into one of those bitter artists and i really don't want that, i'd rather just walk away.

Got started on those quick sketches for people who helped me get a corrupted dinomon last night. Got about 14 done... think there's a little over 60 to go. 0_________0

But it only took about an hour and a half to do all the ones I've done, so I'm not totally stressed about it. Just need a break. And FA is down, and since that's where most of the people who did it commented (not to mention most people's refs were also on FA...) I think I'm okay to take a break for now.

There were four people who commented in LJ saying they leveled him up after he'd grown up and I'd edited the post to say closed. But I realize that I didn't make it obvious that it was closed, so if I'm not totally dead by the time I finish the rest, I'll go ahead ond do those, too.

Anyway, they're really simple but I think they're also very cute. So people will dig them, and I may offer them at cons and whatnot. Gonna wait until I'm done with all of them to scan and post, though.

I also owe you guys the rest of the progress shots on the painting. But I'd rather work on it. So I think I will. And then there will be more progress shots I can show. XD

Gold Painted Clockwork Creature Badges!

  • May. 17th, 2008 at 9:59 AM
Hey guys so I had a neat idea yesterday for badges...

your character as a clockwork/steampunk critter! All gadgetry, gears, made in metal: gold, bronze, copper, silver, etc.!

I drew myself one here as a test badge, and then thought it would be neater to have gold and pearly white accents to catch the light like real metal!:

Blurry pictures that attempt to show off how the badge catches the light:

I thought it was a neat idea, and considering the rising popularity of steampunk and all that, maybe a popular one to boot!

If anyone is interested in one of these types of badges, whether a pre-order for AC or any other con, I'm wide open for them today! They're only $30.00, including metallic accents, lamination and clip! Paypal and email address: kitfoxyfire@gmail.com

Ahhh, friday of the comic con is pretty much a snooze. I got my sketchbook autograph from Bernie Wrightson (gosh, I wish he would do con sketches). happy happy. There's a coelacanth T-shirt I must buy. Earl came by and collected his gift, and he was really pleased (he had two sketches in it the first day). He had some more of the clean white books for me! Yum! Bigger size that the ones I have. Joy! Now I can hand over the ones I bought for Heather that I was secretly wanting to keep. I did him a nice picture in trade.

Had dinner with the Rosemas and some friends. Talked about media stuff, and only some bizness. Saw Jane, Sue and Mark, Allyssa and Steve. Lotsa other familiar faces that I only seem to find at the comic con. Talked art, shows and Gaming. Totally having a good time. Must go shopping today since I will have booth helpers.

Gonna run. Have much to do today.
