Hoh Rainforest - Seattle Adventures 2011

Beautiful mossy trees at Hoh National Rainforest in Washington State.

Catching up on some of my old travel photos, finally!

On our way home from Alaska, we made our way down to Seattle to visit friends and spend a few days touring the Peninsula and coastline. Hiking in the Hoh rainforest was spectacular, and walking along the coast as the tide rolled in was an unforgettable experience. Olympic national forest was amazing, with its incredibly old trees and picturesque mountains. Washington state has so much to offer, I look forward to going back again soon!

The most amazing thing walking through dense forest is the details.

Buttercup?

The rainforest was breathtaking, but as soon as you drove outside the protected boundaries it was pretty depressing. Huge swaths of the land are being clearcut and just mile after mile of this destruction can be seen.

Gray jay at Olympic.

Detail of ice and running water up in the mountains.

Deer are always noble creatures.

Pretty blacktail. The deer let you get up amazingly close, totally unconcerned.

Welcome to Forks, now Twilight capital of the world.

Not a native art store – a Twilight store.

Typical old town pharmacy. Books, quilting fabrics, Twilight.

Really? There were busses of people stopping here.

Many thanks to our friends who let us stay with them at their wonderful cabin in the woods, and those who came to show me around Seattle. :) I look forward to returning again sometime soon!
